Red Deer Symphony Orchestra has partnered with Health Arts Society of Alberta to present Concerts in Care at seniors facilities in central Alberta.
Eleven concerts featuring symphony musicians and will be held at senior facilities in Red Deer, Lacombe, Camrose, Stettler, Sylvan Lake, Innisfail and Olds from June 28 to July 20.
Health Arts Society of Alberta says music has therapeutic benefits, such as enhancing senior citizens’ mental health and quality of life, and concert admission is free.
“These concerts are specifically designed as a way for RDSO to reach members of our community impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said symphony executive director Jennette Miller in a statement.
“We are delighted to be working with Health Arts Society of Alberta in providing this series of Concerts in Care to communities across central Alberta.”
Through donations, Concerts in Care is able to support local, professional musicians while bringing music to those who need it most. Each year, more than 300 concerts are held for Albertans in care facilities and retirement communities.
Funding is provided by Canada Healthy Communities Initiatives, with additional sponsorship from Swift Insurance & Financial Solutions Inc. and The Co-Operator’s.
