A teenager died last weekend during a single vehicle collision.

Police in Sundre received an SOS signal from a GPS device on Highway 734 in Bighorn County on July 17.

Just after 12:46 p.m., Sundre RCMP, the Cremona Fire Department and EMS responded to the call.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a pick-up truck was travelling southbound on Highway 734 navigating a winding downhill section of roadway when it lost control, struck an embankment and rolled.

A 17-year-old passenger of the vehicle was declared dead on scene. Both the 18-year old driver and a 18-year-old passenger were transported by EMS to a local area hospital where they were released shortly after.

Alcohol, drugs or speed are not believed to be factors in the incident. The name of the deceased will not be released and no further updates are anticipated.
