A temporary public washroom facility has returned to downtown Red Deer for the summer.

The facility was placed downtown from June to October last year as a pilot project. This year, the washroom is located in Parking Lot P4, 4900 49 St., near the Welikoklad Event Centre. It will remain in place until Oct. 5.

The facility houses two fully accessible stalls that are operational from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours are extended to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays to support the Downtown Market. The washrooms are cleaned and maintained regularly by Downtown Business Association staff.

“We’re pleased to continue this pilot project in partnership with the Downtown Business Association,” said Bobby-Jo Stannard, community development superintendent.

“By providing public access to washrooms in a central downtown location, we hope to reduce barriers and encourage Red Deerians and tourists to frequent downtown.”

A survey for users to share their feedback about the washroom is available at www.reddeer.ca/downtownwashroom.
