Three Mile Bend is free of blue-green algae, testing has confirmed.
The City of Red Deer sent water samples for testing on Aug. 16 to determine if a blue-green algae outbreak was present at the recreation park.
“Test results have come back negative,” says the city.
There are currently no active advisories in effect for bodies of water within the city.
Blue-green algae’s peak season runs from July to October, though lower seasonal temperatures have
kept the outbreaks at bay.
If conditions change and blue-green algae is suspected at any body of water within the city, temporary
signage will be placed around the affected areas.
