Diverse works by 25 multi-talented Central Alberta artists will be brought together under one roof in Lacombe this week.
The Encore Arts Show runs on Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15, at the Lacombe Memorial Centre, 5214-50th Ave. with art for sale to suit every taste.
Artworks will be made of fibre, stained glass, wood and metals — as well as paintings, ceramics, photography, music and more.
Margret Blank, a local fibre artist, whose works have been shown in exhibitions across Canada, will be featured at this year’s show. Blank will speak at 2 p.m. each day about her artistic process, which employs threads, fibres, fabrics and paints to create dimensional works.
There will be a paint-off starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night, when artists will create a new painting within 1.5 hours. The completed paintings will then be auctioned off to support the Lacombe Arts Endowment Fund.
This year’s Endowment Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
From 6-8 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, patrons can ‘Sip, Savour & Shop,’ enjoying tasty bites and sips while shopping for art.
The Encore Art Show runs from 1-8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 on Saturday. Admission is by donation to support the Lacombe Arts Endowment Fund.
