Thief makes off with load of guns in Rocky robbery

More than two dozen guns were stolen from a rural home east of Rocky Mountain House sometime in the last few days.

More than two dozen guns were stolen from a rural home east of Rocky Mountain House sometime in the last few days.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP said the homeowner discovered the theft on Tuesday evening on returning home after being away for a number of days. A gun safe was found knocked over and the door had been pried open.

Police believe tools taken from a shop on the property were used to break open the safe.

Rocky RCMP Sgt. Mike Numan said 25 to 30 firearms were stolen. Nothing else was taken from the Condor-area property.

A partial list of the missing weapons is as follows:

• Five Colt Gold Cup Trophy .45-calibre guns

• Two .45-calibre Ruger Vaquero

• One .44-calibre Ruger RedHawk

• One .45-calibre Kimber Stainless TLE II

• One nine-mm Beretta 92FS

• One .45-calibre single-action Army Colt

• One .45-calibre Sig Sauer P220

• Three Smith & Wesson

• One .45-calibre Springfield Armory 1911A1 90s edition

• Two .22-calibre Walther P22

• One nine-mm Walther P38
