Three Maskwacis men have been charged with attempted murder in connection with a February incident.
Maskwacis RCMP said they were called on Feb. 24 to assist EMS, who was treating a male had been seriously injured in an assault.
Police said the man had gone to residence he was familiar with and was then allegedly attacked and held against his will.
“After a period of time, the victim was able to escape to safety,” said police in a news release on Tuesday.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated.
Maskwacis General Investigative Section (GIS) investigators with help from general duty RCMP officers identified three suspects in the attack.
A 27-year-old Montana First Nation man and 33- and 31-year-old Samson Cree Nation men have all been charged with attempted murder, forcible confinement and uttering threats.
All three remain in custody. The Montana First Nation man is due in Wetaskiwin provincial court on March 22 and the Samson First Nation are due in court on March 31.
