Three charged for murder, arson in Wetaskiwin County

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged three men after a murder and arson investigation.

Wetaskiwin RCMP were called to a structure fire on a rural property in the Usona district in Wetaskiwin County just after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Major Crimes Unit was brought in to investigate. On Thursday, human remains were located at the property and an autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton on Friday. The results of the autopsy are pending.

Linden Buffalo, 31, and Jake Green, 36, both of Maskwacis, and Donovan Lightning, 28, of Wetaskiwin, have been charged with the murder of Clifford Stauffer and arson with disregard for human life.

Lightning, Green and Buffalo have been remanded in custody until their court appearance Tuesday.
