Three people attacked with machete at Maskwacis

Youth now facing attempted murder and other charges

A youth is now facing attempted murder charges after three people were attacked with a machete at a residence on the Ermineskin Reserve in Maskwacis on Monday.

Maskwacis RCMP, who were dispatched to assist EMS at the residence, found three victims with injuries as a result the attack, RCMP said in a statement.

One of the victims sustained significant trauma and is recovering in hospital where he remains in stable condition. The other two of the victims were treated at hospital and released.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of a male youth, without incident. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, breach of an undertaking and breach of a recognizance.

The accused remains in custody and cannot be named because he is a youth.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, Battle River General Investigation Unit and Maskwacis Community Response Unit all assisted Maskwacis RCMP investigators.
