Three Red Deer robberies in 24-hour span keep police hopping

Red Deer RCMP are investigating one armed robbery and two attempted robberies that have occurred since Wednesday morning.

The latest was an attempted robbery at West Park Fas Gas on 55th Avenue at 4:16 a.m. today.

A male demanded cash, but the clerk was unable to comply and the man left without incident.

He was last seen on foot south of the store.

He is described as Caucasian, about 1.62 to 1.65 metres tall (five feet four or five inches), between 40 to 50 years old. He wore a green winter jacket, white tuque and scarf and black gloves.

Police are also investigating an armed robbery at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar at the bottom of the north hill on Gaetz Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

A lone male, armed with a knife, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was described as a heavy-set Caucasian, about 1.67 metres tall (five-foot six inches), wearing blue jeans, a dark blue sweater and an army-style vest.

Another attempted armed robbery was reported at 7:18 a.m. on Wednesday.

A male, brandishing a knife, tried to rob the Eastview Express 24 at 140 Erickson Dr. He is described as Caucasian, 1.67 metres tall (five foot six inches), 90 kg (about 200 pounds) wearing a black jacket, black hat and black running shoes.
