Three men are facing charges in connection with a violent robbery at a Red Deer Fas Gas station early Monday.

Red Deer RCMP were called to a gas station in the north end, near Gaetz Avenue, at about 3:30 a.m. with a report of a robbery by three men.

The clerk was attacked physically and was treated on scene for minor injuries. The suspects fled on foot with a cash box.

RCMP responded with police dog services. The dog did a lengthy track, but the suspects got away.

On an unrelated call about suspicious activity, the RCMP were able to link people in a residence to the earlier robbery. By 7:45 a.m., three suspects were arrested without incident.

Police recovered the cash box and a large amount of stolen property.

Denver Deschamps, 19, Evan Elliot Deschamps, 24, and Eastin Louis, 23, are all facing robbery charges.

Louis remains in custody and is due in court on Friday.

Evan Deschamps is also still in custody and has a June 19 court date. Denver Deschamps was released from custody and will also be in court on June 19.

“We encourage citizens to continue to report suspicious behaviour in this community,” says Sgt. Ian Ihme of Red Deer RCMP.

“If something doesn’t seem right, it probably isn’t. In this case, a citizen’s gut instinct led to swift arrests.”
