Three winter-themed “Polar Glow,” events are coming to downtown Red Deer.

Starting this Saturday, there will be a party held every second weekend on the Ross Street Patio, courtesy of the Downtown Business Association.

Different activities— from ice sculptures, to glow-in-the-dark games, to a St. Patrick’s Day Party — will run from 3-8 p.m. on Feb. 17, March 2 and March 16.

The series kicks off with the annual Ice Sculpture event this coming Saturday. Watch the latest carvings come to life. The afternoon and evening will also be filled with family-friendly activities, and live music. Free hot chocolate will be served to kids from 3-5 p.m., bands will play from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be a marshmallow roast from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Glow Event is planned for March 2. “Step into a world of magic… mesmerizing glow artists, fun glow games, live music, and an electrifying atmosphere under the stars,” states the DBA. Amid neon, glow-in-the-dark decorations, hot chocolate will be served and live music will be performed from 3 to 8 p.m.

Finally, don your greenest scarf and accessories for a festive St. Patty’s Party on March 16.

“We’re ending the Polar Glow series with a bang! Join us for… live bands, the coldest brew in Central Alberta, and a leprechaun hunt.” The full schedule of events for this last winter event is to be announced.
