Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm watch for the areas of Red Deer, Ponoka, Innisfail and Stettler.
Residents are advised of the potential for development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.
A warm, humid airmass has set the stage for potentially severe thunderstorms this evening. Scattered thunderstorms have developed to south of Edmonton and are beginning to spread southward.
As these storms build south, a few of these thunderstorms could become severe giving strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.
