Tickets sold for 2019 Red Deer County farm tour

The Aug. 7 tour will focus on east end of County

Tickets are now on sale for the Aug. 7 Red Deer County Agricultural Tour.

Urban and rural residents interested in learning about today’s farming practices can attend this tour that will explore the eastern end of Red Deer County.

Guests will visit local farms, learn about the effort and technology involved in food production, and speak to farmers.

County agricultural services manager Cody McIntosh said the tour has become a summertime staple. For the past 16 years, guests from urban and rural areas have learned about innovative and successful farming operations.

“The diversity of agriculture in the county never ceases to amaze me,” said McIntosh.

Tickets are $35 and include a catered lunch. Guests will meet at 7:30 a.m. at CrossRoads Church (across from the Red Deer County Centre).

Buses will leave at 8 a.m. Those attending should dress comfortably and prepare for farm conditions and a full day’s tour.

It will run rain or shine, and return to CrossRoads Church at 5 p.m.

For more information, visit or the county’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
