The countdown is on to buy tickets for the Red Deer Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery.
The deadline to purchase tickets is 11:59 p.m. on Feb 28 and the draw happens March 16. Tickets information is available at reddeerkinsmenlottery.com.
“This is actually our last weekend to have our Kinsmen in the house,” said dream home chairman Leonard Cisco.
Kinsmen members will be at the home Saturday and Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m., to welcome visitors inside to check out the dream home, worth $810,000 with furnishings.
Located at 388 Timberlands Dr., the 1,847-square-foot home, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a double attached garage, was built by Alair Homes.
Cisco said one of the house’s special features is that the garage is large enough to install a lift to fit three vehicles inside which would come in handy during the winter. The primary bedroom also has a private balcony.
He said while the minimalist design may not appeal to everyone, the style has garnered a lot of positive comments. With warmer temperatures forecast for the weekend, it will be a good opportunity for people to come out and take a look.
The deadline to buy tickets was extended by about a month to help the lottery raise more money so the Kinsmen club can better support community organizations.
“The whole idea to do this lottery is to generate funds we can put back into the community. All money raised here, stays here. We’re trying to build the best community that we can and by raising funds through this lottery that helps us to help the organizations around here do that,” Cisco said.
The Kinsmen Club of Red Deer has run the annual Dream Home Lottery since 1981.
The lottery features a total of 117 prizes worth over $900,000. Tickets are $100 each, five for $150, 15 for $250, and 50 for $350.
50/50 Cash Raffle tickets are also available. As of Friday, the jackpot had grown to $290,605 and the lucky winner will take home half. Tickets are $10 each, 10 for $25, 25 for $50 and 50 for $75.
