Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter is looking for six brides to smile for the camera and take part in the charity’s first annual Trash Your Dress for CAWES.

Each bride will be asked to raise funds for the shelter, and in return, they’ll get to work with some of central Alberta’s top photographers, receive a bit of pampering, along with limo transportation to all three of the undisclosed photo shoot locations on Aug. 16.

“We’re not talking about literally trashing the dress (unless the bride wants to). At most, there’s a chance it’ll get dirty and it may not come completely clean, following the event. Participants will need to be prepared for this,” said event organizer Roxanne Kirton.

She said the shelter has a conservative fundraising goal this year during the current economy.

“But if nothing else, we’re creating the foundation for a solid community fundraiser with some uniqueness to it.”

Participating brides will each receive a swag bag full of goodies from local businesses, and the top fundraiser will receive the grand prize valued at more than $800. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations over $20.

Anyone interested in sponsoring, or becoming one of the lucky brides, check out the Facebook page @TrashYourDressforCAWES, visit www.cawes.com/events, or contact Kirton at 403-352-4080.
