Can one little red-cloaked girl defeat a whole quartet of fairy tale villains?

Cornerstone Youth Theatre will reveal the answer in its staging of the musical Grimm, A Mixed-up Musical Adventure next weekend at New Life Fellowship, 20 Kelloway Cres. in Red Deer.

In this zany collection of Brothers Grimm fairy tales, Red, played by Lacey Oake, is tasked with saving the town of Happily Ever After.

But “magic stealers” are on the loose, trying to re-write the endings of such timeless stories as Cinderella (which now features a ragamuffin who can’t dance), Three Little Pigs (with a vegan wolf), Rapunzel (who can’t carry a tune), and a trio of not-so-charming Princes.

This exuberant production, with direction by Stephanie Orr, will be the first for Cornerstone Youth Theatre after two long pandemic years.

It features a cast and crew of 47 kids, from age eight to 18. They will be bringing to life some fairy tale characters in ways you’ve never seen before.

Grimm, A Mixed-up Musical Adventure, will run for three performances on Friday and Saturday June 24 (at 7 p.m.) and 25 (at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.)
