The Tour of Alberta will announce the host communities for the 2014 edition of the professional cycling stage race on Wednesday.
Red Deer is expected to make the short list again after hosting the third finishing stage in the inaugural event in 2013.
The local organizing committee is expected to ask the City of Red Deer for cash to host the event and festival again this fall.
Some of the confirmed professional teams will also be announced in Edmonton around 1:30 p.m.
The route will likely be announced in the coming weeks.
The six-day international professional cycling event and festival will cycle across Alberta from Sept. 2 to 7.
