The Town of Blackfalds has unveiled a brand new website.

According to a news release, the site aims to increase public engagement and raise awareness of town programs, events, and services as well as help residents, visitors, and business owners access information more quickly and efficiently.

“After nearly a year of hard work and dedication, we are delighted to officially reveal our new website,” shared marketing and communication manager Miranda Cooper said in a news release.

“It was important to provide the public with a website that is intuitive, faster, easier to navigate, and mobile-responsive.”

Along with an improved search function and business directory, the site also has quick links that scroll with the page.

Users can now add their own community notices and events to the website, and business owners may submit their business information to the new business directory.

Additionally, residents and visitors can choose to receive immediate notices from the municipality via a new alert system called Blackfalds Messenger.

Users simply register their phone numbers and/or email addresses, and then will be notified of the latest events, weather, and emergencies in real-time by text, voice message, or email.

The new site will also serve as a portal for the new Citizen Request Portal which replaces the current Blackfalds Connect (report an issue) app and promises a more streamlined approach to request town services and report issues.

The new portal will be available in September 2021.
