Olds has a new Community Resource Officer.

The Town of Olds and the Olds RCMP detachment announced Tuesday that Cst. Mitchell Price took over the position on March 6.

According to the release, Cst. Price’s priorities focus on forming and building relationships with different community groups and businesses.

As a 12-year member of the RCMP, Prince spent the last three years stationed with the Olds Detachment. He will strive to build and expand relationships with the community children, youth, seniors, and various organizations including businesses and volunteer groups.

Price will spend the majority of his time in schools, including at Olds College. The RCMP hopes that a visable face in those institutions will form strong community ties with police.

“I pride myself on being approachable and look forward to meeting as many community members as possible,” said Cst. Price.

Olds Mayor Judy Dahl added “We are very pleased to have this position filled after being vacant for quite some time. This is an important position on the force and for the community as it is quite proactive and focuses on prevention of crime.”
