This section of Red Deer’s popular trail system which runs by the water treatment plant at 5408 54th Ave. on the south side of the river will be temporarily closed to foot and bike traffic. The disruption to the trail will continue for approximately 18 months as the city plans to expand the low-lift pump building and construct a raw water intake near the plant. At present they are still waiting for some regulatory approvals from the likes of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, before continuing.
