A train derailed north of Red Deer late Friday night.
In a statement, Canadian Pacific said there were no injuries to CP’s train crew.
“Three of the cars involved in the derailment – each carrying fuel products – were found to be leaking. The spilled product was contained, with vacuum trucks being used to recover any visible product on the ground. There is no impact to waterways,” the statement said.
Highway 2A between Red Deer and Blackfalds was closed through Saturday afternoon.
An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
