Parts of Highway 2 were impassable for drivers during the morning commute, according to the RCMP.
RCMP advised of poor driving conditions on Highway 2 near the Carstairs overpass, as a jackknifed travel trailer blocked a northbound lane.
Just before noon, Innisfail RCMP sent a similar advisory, asking drivers to avoid the highway between Bowden and Highway 582.
“The Innisfail RCMP Traffic Services Unit is advising motorists of deteriorating road conditions caused by snow and wind on the QE II Highway from Bowden to Highway 582,” they wrote.
“RCMP are recommending against travel and are asking motorists to take extra precautions when driving in the area.”
