Work in and around the trails at Riverbend Recreation Area will begin next week.

Contractors in the area are expected to be felling and removing trees from this upcoming Monday until Nov. 25.

The trails will remain open, but trail users and cross-country skiers are advised there may be crews working throughout the park.

“The felling and removal of these trees is limited to those that are dying and damaged to reduce risk for trail users and the public,” said Doug Evans, City of Red Deer biodiversity supervisor.

“Assessing and removing damaged and dying trees is part of our regular urban forestry practices, and we always make every effort to remove as few trees as possible, and only those that are absolutely required.”
