TSB investigates freight train derailment near Red Deer

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the derailment of a freight train north of Calgary early today.

CALGARY — An investigation is underway to determine what caused the derailment of a freight train south of Red Deer early today.

Just south of Innisfail, 10 cars were derailed in the accident around 1 a.m. local time.

A spokesman for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada says there are no injuries.

John Cottreau told The Canadian Press a TSB investigator has been sent to the site.
