Innisfail RCMP recovered five stolen vehicles Saturday morning during an investigation into an alleged chop shop east of Innisfail.
RCMP executed a search warrant at a rural property on South Pine Lake Road where they found three pickup trucks, one snowmobile and an eight-metre (27 foot) camper.
A chop shop is where stolen vehicles are disassembled to sell the parts.
Two of the trucks had engines and drivetrains removed.
Police also located a .22 calibre rifle with a homemade silencer attached. In Canada, any rifle that has a silencer attached is considered a prohibited firearm.
Two men located on site were arrested.
Andrew Montague, 30, of Pine Lake, and Kris Rowe, 37, face several charges including possession of stolen property exceeding a value of $5,000.
Montague is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Sept. 5 for a bail hearing and Rowe will appear in court in Red Deer on Sept. 15 to speak to the charges.
The file is still under investigation by Innisfail RCMP.
The search was conducted with the assistance of members of the RCMP Auto Theft Units and Red Deer Police Dog Service.
