Two people were arrested and charged as part of a police investigation into the break and enter of a Caroline store.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP executed a search warrant at an O’Chiese First Nations residence on Wednesday. A 41-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man were arrested and have been charged.

Police said, in the early morning hours of Jan. 28, a break and enter occurred at Caroline Supplies. Police said the suspects fled in a truck.

During the search, police found one stolen rifle and varying amounts of ammunition.

“It’s always a good thing to remove stolen firearms from the community,” said Sgt. Jay Penner. “We’re grateful to the public for bringing any suspicious activities to our attention, assisting us in working towards having safer communities.”

The 41-year-old woman is charged with break and enter, disguise with intent, theft over $5,000, breaking and entering to steal a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, tampering with a serial number and possession of property obtained by crime.

The 43-year-old man is charged with possession of a firearm obtained by crime, tampering with a serial number, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

Both people have been remanded into custody.
