Emergency crews responded to two collisions in less than two days at the same busy Red Deer intersection this week.

The collisions also happened in roughly the same location of the intersection.

On Tuesday at about 4:30 p.m., Red Deer RCMP said officers responded to a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of 32nd Street and Gaetz Avenue in the westbound lanes near Red Deer Resort & Casino (formerly the Cambridge Hotel).

Police said the male driver had a diabetic episode, hit the curb, and disabled his vehicle. After he was assessed and treated for low blood sugar by EMS, he was released.

Early Thursday morning, police and EMS were called to a three-vehicle collision at the same intersection.

RCMP said one of the drivers failed to stop for a red light and hit the other two vehicles. There were no injuries or impairment.
