Ponoka RCMP arrested a pair of men on Dec. 3 after they allegedly stole 75 ft. of copper wire from an oilfield lease site.

Daryl S. Springer, 41, Adam Reginald Spare, 56, both of Red Deer are each facing four charges.

RCMP was called to a break and enter on the oilfield lease site just after 4 a.m. on Dec. 3 and after canvassing the area, tracked down the vehicle on Highway 2A. Springer and Reginald were arrested without incident and the copper wire was found in the vehicle.

“This outcome was as a result of a collaborative effort between the RCMP and the security company that provides services to the business”, says Sgt. Erin St-Cyr of the Ponoka RCMP.

“The information provided by the security company enabled the RCMP member on the road to intercept the suspect vehicle within minutes of the suspects departing the scene of the crime.”
