Two men charged with second-degree murder following death of Maskwacis man

Two men have been charged with second-degree murder just days after the death of a 38-year-old man on the Samson Cree Nation.

Two men have been charged with second-degree murder just days after the death of a 38-year-old man on the Samson Cree Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP were called to assist EMS with a man who was assaulted at a residence this past Tuesday just after 5 p.m.

The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Edward Vincent Crier, 31, and Louie Albert Thom, 33, are charged with second-degree murder in the homicide of Benjamin Morin of Maskwacis.

Judicial interim release hearings have been held.

Crier is in custody and was set to appear in Ponoka provincial court on Friday, while Thom is also in custody and is set to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on July 28.
