Lacombe Composite High School confirmed two more positive COVID-19 cases at the school Thursday.

In a letter to parents, the school said they are working with Alberta Health Services to “ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff.”

The letter also noted that an investigation is underway to determine if the individuals who contracted the virus were infectious at school.

It also says that if parents haven’t been contacted by the school, their child was not identified as a close contact with the infected individuals.

“All students and staff not identified as close contacts can attend school. Please know that the school remains open and classes will resume,” the letter reads.

According to the Alberta Government’s website, the school has now been placed on Alert status, with between two and four cases.

Support Our Students, an advocacy group that has been tracking COVID-19 cases in schools since the beginning of the pandemic, indicates that the school has had three cases since Jan. 1 and 12 cases since the start of the school year.

John Wilson Elementary School in Lacombe is also on Alert status with 2-4 cases. St. Matthews Catholic school in Rocky Mountain House also has one case.
