Two people were taken to hospital after a trailer fire west of Red Deer early Thursday.
A mother and daughter were treated and released for minor smoke inhalation, said Red Deer County Fire Services District Fire Chief Tom Metzger.
Two dozen volunteer firefighters responded to the 2 a.m. fire at Melody Meadows mobile home park about five km west of the city off Burnt Lake Trail.
“It was a bad trailer fire,” said Metzger. “It was a bad smouldering fire. Heavy, heavy smoke is what we found.”
The last fire trucks left the scene about 6:30 a.m.
The trailer is a write-off. No other mobile homes were damaged.
A damage estimate is not yet available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
