Lacombe resident Fran Kimmel, author of No Good Asking, published by ECW Press, is in the running for the Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction.

Also in that category are two Calgary authors — Clem Martini for The Comedian and Joshua Whitehead for Johnny Appleseed.

Former Red Deer resident Leslie Greentree is shortlisted for the Jon Whyte Memorial Essay Award for her Pink Smock Stories.

She is up against Falon Fayant with Sometimes, I’m Afraid, and Trina Moyles’s Herd Memory.
