In the midst of a pandemic and global economic uncertainty, MEGlobal Prentiss employees reaffirmed their commitment to helping local communities.

They set a new record in the 2020 MEGlobal employee charities campaign, raising $161,348 for the United Way of Central Alberta.

The funds include $79,544 in payroll contributions from employees, a $79,544 matching donation from MEGlobal Canada ULC., and $2,260 raised in special events.

The new record broke the previous mark set in 2018 when MEGlobal Prentiss gave a total of $157,507. United Way Central Alberta chief executive officer Brett Speight said MEGlobal is one of the leading corporate contributors in the central Alberta area and their support is greatly appreciated.

“Every year MEGlobal is one of the top contributors to our campaign, and this year with the challenges presented by COVID and the need being greater than ever, they stepped up even more and had a record year,” Speight said.

MEGlobal campaign spokesman David Miller said he was overwhelmed by the way MEGlobal employees reacted to increased need in local communities.

“So much of the news in 2020 was doom and gloom, but it is in these darker times that the generosity of many individual employees shines through. I am very proud of my fellow employees at Prentiss,” he said.
