An early Valentine’s Day dinner and dance is being held to support a Red Deer school’s library.

On Saturday, Fairview Elementary School will host the event featuring a dinner, fun casino and dance, with all proceeds going towards enhancing the school’s library.

“The cornerstone of public schools is the community and the neighbourhoods in which we are located. We are excited to welcome the community to our school for this exciting fundraising event,” said Teresa Tataryn, Fairview Elementary School principal.

Door prizes and silent auction items will also be available throughout the evening.

The funds raised through ticket sales, as well as the silent auction, will seed Fairview’s library enhancement project and assist with equipment, and furniture that enable a refreshed design.

“Together with community partners, resources and grant funding we will realize the vision for an environment where warmth, belonging, safety, community and culture draw a child into readiness for learning,” said Tataryn.

“The library will be the hub of the school and embrace student needs, inspire learning and nurture hope.”

Tickets, which were each sold for $50, are no longer available, but the school is accepting donations for its library as well. To contact the school, call 403-343-8780.
