RCMP are investigating a fire that burned out a car in Penhold early on Saturday morning.
Penhold Fire Department got the call about 5 a.m. and volunteer firefighters found an abandoned car burning on the west side of the train tracks in town.
“We had the fire under control very quickly and made sure there was no extension to grass or trees, said Penhold Fire Lt. Mackenzie Johnston.
“We checked the area to make sure there were no injuries and used a thermal imaging camera to make sure the fire was out.”
Penhold Fire Chief Jim Pendergast said the car is a total loss and the investigation has been turned over to the RCMP.
There were no injuries and 3 fire units and 11 firefighters responded.
