A “very adult,” double-headliner comedy tour is stopping in Red Deer on Sept. 17.
Stand-up veterans Kenny Robinson and Darren Frost star in the Rank N Vile Double Dosed comedy show, which will take the stage at 8 p.m. at the Red Deer Elks Lodge, 6315 Horn St.
The comedians are known for their profane and opinionated style of “in your face” and social commentary.
Robinson is also one of the few recipients of the Canadian Comedy Awards Phil Hartman Award for his contribution to the industry. He’s shared the stage with Chris Rock, Jim Carrey, Norm McDonald, among many others, and appeared at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, L.A.’s Comedy Store, Atlanta’s Laffapalooza, and had his own CBC television special.
Robinson was twice nominated for a Gemini Award for his CBC special Thick and Thin. He’s creator of the Comedy Network show After Hours and founder of the Nubian Disciples All Black Comedy Revue.
Frost’s comedy style was described as having “the quality of a satanic revival meeting” by the Toronto Star. The daring comedian worked on the Murdoch Mysteries 2018 Halloween special with Nicolas Cage and can be seen in Season 2 of the hit show Mr. D on CBC, as an angry French teacher.
Frost has also acted in Hollywood films, including Hairspray with John Travolta, Assault On Precinct 13 with Ethan Hawke, and Fever Pitch featuring Jimmy Fallon. But he’s perhaps best-known for appearing in over 50 commercials and for his cartoon voice work.
Besides performing at comedy festivals in Montreal, Halifax, Winnipeg and St John’s, he has appeared on The Ron James Show and CBC Debaters.
Advance tickets for the Rank N Vile show, presented by Red Deer Comedy, are available through Ticketleap.com or by calling 403-352-9249.
