Innisfail RCMP have now identified the victim of a fatal hit and run near Penhold on Tuesday and are asking for the driver of the vehicle that is believed to have killed the 18-year-old to come forward.

Trystan Sorensen of Penhold was killed while he was longboarding on the side of Hwy 592 about four km west of Penhold at about 10:30 p.m. Police said he was longboarding with a friend when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

Police describe the suspect vehicle as a blue Chrysler or Dodge SUV driven by a Caucasian female.

According to the Innisfail RCMP, their preliminary investigation indicates the collision was not intentional.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw any vehicle with damage to the front passenger side leave this area around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night are asked to contact the Innisfail RCMP detachment at 403-227-3342 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
