Even though there won’t be in-person events, central Albertans will still be able to celebrate World Refugee Day this weekend.

The Central Alberta Refugee Effort and Catholic Social Services, together known as the Immigrant Centre, will host different activities to mark the day.

On Saturday, discussions that were live-streamed the past three Wednesdays, hosted by Angie Chinguwo and Jan Underwood from the refugee effort, in addition to a pre-recorded interview hosted by Ahlam Olamy and Jamil Mohamed from Catholic Social Services, will be shown on the CARE Facebook page.

The refugee effort will also post the Immigrant Centre Photo Project, #love4refugees, on its Facebook page on Saturday.

The project features many former local refugees in a collage with photos and messages to encourage welcoming and inclusive communities around the globe.
