Volunteer Central is winding down its operations and will officially close its doors June 30.
“This has been a very difficult decision and one which we are very sad to have to make,” board chair Lynne Mulder said in an email announcement.
“Unfortunately, we have reached a point where we can no longer continue to operate due to a lack of sustainable funding and a limited board capacity for fundraising based on our current economic realities.”
As the nonprofit organization winds down operations over the coming months, it will continue to honour its partner commitments regarding the planning and execution of the National Volunteer Week event, and sharing volunteer opportunities in its newsletter and website, Mulder said.
