Berachah Place, a drop in centre for Red Deer’s homeless, is looking for volunteers on Saturdays and Sundays, from noon to 6:00pm. Bethany Care Society-Collegeside has many opportunities to work with seniors available. Gardening Assistant is a perfect position for those who enjoy gardening. Special Events Assistants can help during our events such as Bar-b-ques. Hymn Sing Assistants enjoys music and helping residents to participate. Resident Visitors visits with residents and may accompany individuals with their independent leisure pursuits. Meal Time Assistants helps during the meal and provides dinner conversation. In each of these positions compassion for seniors is needed, pushing wheelchairs may be needed and training is provided. Each position has unique time requirements – one is sure to fit your schedule! Canadian Blood Services has opportunities for young adults between 17 to 24 years old. If you are attending high school or college in Red Deer this fall, consider becoming a Youth Committee member. This core group of volunteers is responsible for projects that recruit youth blood donors. If you like to make things happen, this position allows for you to work on challenges, special events and mobile blood clinics. Immigrant Seniors Program Assistant is needed to work with the Community Connections program visiting with senior newcomers by participating in a weekly fellowship group at the Golden Circle.

Immigrant Youth Volunteer-immigrant youth are eager to learn and appreciate your assistance.  Time commitment is only one hour per week and is quite flexible. 

Volunteer Friend-to spend two hours a week visiting with immigrants/refugees to help them learn more about Canadian culture and customs and in doing so, to help them practice conversational English and to improve their language skills.

Translator/Interpreter volunteers are needed to assist with translation duties in the community as well as to assist in translating documents. We have urgent need in Farsi, Thai, Cantonese, Spanish and Korean languages.

Volunteer Cultural Consultants we are looking for people who have come from other countries and are interested in talking about their culture with students and others. A great way to meet new people, share your culture and improve your public speaking skills.

Pastoral Care – volunteers help porter and accompany patients to Chapel services and sing-a-longs. Shifts are available Monday to Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Seniors Resources Clinics – greeting seniors at the clinics, direct seniors to appointments and visit with the seniors as they wait, one three hour shift per week on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Wellness Center Associates – provide customer service to consumers in their pursuit of relevant Health Information via selected strategies such as computers, video and interactive program displays. 3 hours shifts available throughout the day Monday to Friday.

Red Deer Youth Justice Committee needs Panel Members to provide youth in conflict with the law and their family’s community based support, to foster accountability in the young person and to offer restorative resolutions. Commitment is up to the individual, usually 2 panels per month, 2 hours per panel and panel are held Mondays to Thursdays 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Rural Victim Services Society is seeking volunteers who will offer 24-hour Crisis Assistance to victims of crime and other tragic circumstances.  Upon the request of the RCMP, specially selected and trained volunteers provide prompt on-scene crisis intervention and support to victims.  For more information on becoming an Advocate, please contact the Program Director at 403-343-5504.

St. John Ambulance is seeking First Aid Responders. Maintain and learn new first aid skills while playing an important role in the community as volunteers provide first aid services at community events.
