Walk home turned fatal for young man

An autopsy has determined that a young man from Maskwacis died from exposure to the cold.

An autopsy has determined that a young man from Maskwacis died from exposure to the cold.

Maskwacis RCMP believe that 17-year-old Travis Rain died after he was attempting to walk home while under the influence of alcohol and became disoriented.

Rain’s body was found Saturday on the Samson First Nation in an open area about 1.5 kms south of Hwy 611 East.

Police believe Rain was last seen on Jan. 17 in the Maskwacis area. He was reported missing to Maskwacis RCMP on Jan. 24.

The autopsy was conducted Tuesday in Edmonton.
