Walker elected in Wolf Creek School division byelection

Barb Walker was elected school trustee in Wolf Creek Public School division in a byelection on Wednesday.

Walker topped the votes with 89 in a field of five candidates for Ward 5 trustee. The byelection results don’t become official until Sunday noon, under the Local Authorities Election Act.

Other candidates were John Anderson, Fred Knip, Dana Edmundson and Judy Ventry.

The byelection was called to replace school trustee Jancee Hawthorne, who resigned in August to move with her family to Sparwood, B.C.

Wolf Creek includes public schools in the counties of Ponoka and Lacombe. Ward 5 includes schools in Blackfalds, Lacombe and parts of Lacombe County.
