Walmart Canada confirms multiple COVID-19 cases at Red Deer locations

Both Walmart locations in Red Deer have had workers test positive for COVID-19 in the past month.

Both Walmart locations in Red Deer have had workers test positive for COVID-19 in the past month.

In a statement, Walmart Canada said they have had eight associates between the two Red Deer stores test positive for the virus.

At the south location, five workers have tested positive since Nov. 29. Two employees who last worked on Dec. 6 tested positive for the virus. Other employees who had positive tests last worked on Nov. 29, Dec. 1 and Dec. 3.

At the north location, three workers have tested positive for COVID-19. One employee who tested positive at that location last worked on Dec. 13.

Another worker at Red Deer north who tested positive had their last shift on Dec. 9.

“Out of an abundance of caution, associates identified as being in close prolonged contact have been directed to self-isolate. We’ve contacted local public health and have conducted a deep clean in each store,” the company said in a statement.

Walmart Canada said they’ve increased cleaning protocols in all their stores and conduct wellness checks, including temperature checks with workers.
