Two Alberta-wide warrants were issued on Tuesday for a 37-year-old Red Deer man in connection with thefts at local businesses.

Warrants were issued for Ray John Simpson following thefts from staff rooms at two businesses at Bower Place mall.

The first theft occurred on Oct. 13, 2014, and the second was reported to police on Jan. 8, 2015.

In both cases, the suspect allegedly went through employee belongings and stole cash and wallets, including gift cards and credit cards that the suspect attempted to use at other businesses.

RCMP continue to investigate a number of other recent thefts from staff rooms at various Red Deer businesses similar to these two incidents.

Simpson faces a number of charges of theft under $5,000.

RCMP believe that Simpson is in Red Deer and they are looking for public assistance to locate him.

Police do not believe Simpson poses a danger to the public, but people are advised not to approach him if they see him. Instead, they should contact Red Deer RCMP immediately at 403-343-5575.

Police say Simpson often wears glasses.
