An Alberta woman says her kitten and pig have formed quite the bond.
Jody Fraser has 17 chickens, one pig, one dog and three cats, including a new 12-week-old kitten named Billy. When Fraser brought Billy home two weeks ago, her pig, five-month-old Wilbur, seemed interested.
“They had a bond right from the beginning. The dog and other cats took some time to get use to him, where Wilbur just barged in and wanted to know what I brought home,” said Fraser, who lives just outside Calgary.
“I’m not sure if that’s the reason why the kitten was interested in the pig.They will be caught sleeping together daily, whether it be on the couch … or in the kitchen where there is a vent that blows warm air.”
Fraser said she hasn’t had a pig before so she isn’t sure if this is an unlikely relationship.
“I do belong to a pig (Facebook) page and it seems that cats do end up liking the pigs,” she said.
“But my other cats ignore Wilbur completely. It’s just this cute little relationship that is growing between these two.Wilbur is actually the first male animal I have and so is Billy, so I’m not sure if the two males have to stick together with all us females.”
Fraser said she has dreamed of owning many animals her whole life.
“I have always liked animals and loved all of them. Well, except snakes maybe and spiders,” she said.
“I was lucky to grow up with always having a cat or a dog in the household. To live in the country and have my chickens is a dream for sure and selling my eggs to my friends and family.”
Fraser said she still wants more animals.
“(This) Spring I’m hoping to get a couple goats and donkey and life will be great. Who doesn’t want that. I have no human kids and am happy having just my fur babies,” she said.
