The manager of an Orlando restaurant is receiving praise from police after she helped “rescue” an 11-year-old boy whose family was withholding food from him.
In a Facebook post, police say the manager, Flavaine Carvalho, noticed bruises on the boy’s body while waiting on the table.
She created a sign to secretly ask the child if he needed help. When he signalled “yes,” Carvalho called the police. The stepfather and mother were then arrested.
The Orland Police Department said Carvalho “stepped up to help rescue a child she had never met.”
