A man wanted for first-degree murder charges in Wetaskiwin has been arrested.

Police say Ryan Jake Applegarth, 27, was taken into custody Wednesday and will appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court Feb. 11.

On Jan. 3, Wetaskiwin RCMP responded to a homicide in the city. An investigation conducted by the major crimes unit led to charges being filed against Applegarth.

Until Wednesday, RCMP had not been able to locate Applegarth, since an earlier request for public assistance on Jan. 6, when he faced arrest warrants on unrelated charges.
