Wildfire danger high in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area

The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is high, and visitors should use caution in forested areas.

One fire is burning in the Rocky area, but it is under control.

Since March 1, there have been 40 wildfires in the Rocky area, burning a total of 70.24 hectares.

So far this season there have been 444 wildfires, burning a total of 1,028.30 hectares in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.

Seventeen fires are currently burning, nine of them are under control, and eight have been turned over to the responsible party.

From June 2 to 7, the Chungo Gap area west of Rocky Mountain House, will be closed to the public for a prescribed fire operation. The area is expected to reopen on June 8, depending on weather and fire conditions.
