Wildfire danger very high in Rocky Mountain House forest area

A fire advisory is in effect for the Rocky Mountain House forest area, as wildfire danger is currently listed as very high.

Due to warmer weather and high winds, anyone burning in the area is encouraged to take extra caution. Fire permits are still valid, but people are asked to be careful and follow the conditions outlined on the permit.

There is currently one wildfire in the Rocky Mountain House forest area – it is under control. Since March 1, there have been 29 wildfires in the area, burning a total of 60.44 hectares.

There are currently 13 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. One of these wildfires is being held, seven are under control and five have been turned over to the responsible party. Since March 1, there have been 295 wildfires in the FPA, burning a total of 919.84 ha.
